TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS JOIN RHYTHMIC ARTS PROJECT Carpinteria based non-profit brings on high profile drummer and local business owner
Carpinteria, CA The Rhythmic Arts Project (TRAP) is proud to announce the addition of two strong leaders to its board of directors: John Densmore and Bob Kingston. Densmore, a drummer, author, poet, actor and filmmaker who resides part-time in Santa Barbara, agreed to serve on the Board after he witnessed first-hand the impact and value of TRAP’s program during the annual summer benefit always held the first Sunday in June. Well-known and respected Carpinterian, Bob Kingston, owner of All Around Irrigation also joins the TRAP Board.
Eddie Tuduri, Founder/Director of TRAP said, “TRAP welcomes both John Densmore & Bob Kingsley to our board of directors. John has been a supporter of TRAP for some time and will further his commitment by joining our strategic team. Kingston has also been supportive of TRAP for many years and this pledge to the Board really seals his commitment. Everyone here is excited and welcomes both men’s dedication and participation in the TRAP family.”
Densmore is the drummer of the legendary rock band The Doors. During the musically prolific years between their debut album in 1966 and Morrison’s death in 1971, The Doors became one of the most influential bands in rock history. Though the band may be John’s most notable endeavor, his talent and contribution to the arts are far reaching and continue to inspire as a musician, actor, poet and author. Densmore said, “As a drummer, I know the importance of RHYTHM in one's life. TRAP is bringing RHYTHM to a population normally excluded. I not only respect Eddie Tuduri as a musician, but I am learning more about compassion seeing his unconditional love as a teacher in dealing with these kids and adults."
John authored several pieces in the theatrical realm including the music for the Tim Robbins production Methusalem. His autobiography, Riders on the Storm: My Life with Jim Morrison and The Doors was applauded by the New York Times and USA Today. The book is considered by many as the best account of the history of The Doors ever written. He has authored articles in The Nation, The Guardian, Rolling Stone and Utne Magazine. John’s musical path continues to evolve with his most recent work - Tribaljazz. “After thirty years of saying; I’m a jazz drummer, well here you go folks!” he said with a wink. See http://www.tribaljazzlive.com - this debut album is now available for purchase.
